The menu button that lies on the bottom side of the screen provides advanced configuration options.  You can always press the menu key to access more options in any interface.

G1 provides a brand-new unlock mechanism.  You have to slide your finger on a 3 x 3 array in different directions to provide the unlock combinations.  You can also use this method to encrypt data.  This is arguably more secure than passwords or numbers (as in Apple iPhone 3G) because hackers now face a lot more combinations for them to crack.  Unless your unlock combination is seen, you are well assured that your phone is inaccessible by hackers.
Being a Google product, the G1 comes with an independent G-mail feature.  Upon activation, the phone is bound to a Google account and a G-mail address.  You can sync your emails over Wi-Fi, EDGE or GPRS connections.

Really great phone, love the user interface and I love how Google has combined all of their stunning applications such as G-Mail, Google Calendar and Contacts, with a gorgeous 3G phone. I have great 3G service in Los Angeles with it and never once had a dropped call. Plus I love the G1's camera, very good resolution.
